What to look for in a good DJ?

Aaaalright... So look... Whether you book with us or NOT, we WANT you and your guests to have a good time. In fact, we would love for you to use us as a resource to help you find the right DJ. We're not threatened by our competition and our #1 goal is for people to have a good time, not to increase profits this year... That's goal #5 ;)

We're not giving away all our trade secrets but we'll make ourselves vulnerable to help you find the right DJ. We have this company because we got tired of going to friends' weddings and leaving with a bad taste in our mouth. We know we're expensive but that's because we're great at what we do and we want to do it with people who are more invested in it. We hope this article will help you find the right DJ at a better price. So here's a few important things you'll ABSOLUTELY want to know/ask about.

1) Can you "read the crowd" - You're going to want to know if they can read a crowd. If you ask them and they don't know what you're talking about or can't explain how they do it, then move on. Being able to read a crowd is THE MOST important skill to have as a great DJ.

2) How MANY shows have you done? - Specifically wedding receptions. It's not about how many "years" we've DJ'd but the number of shows. There are people who claim to do it for over 15 years but a DJ with only 5 years will perform better because they've DJ'd more events in those years. It's about the amount of experience, not how long they've claim the profession.

3) No props... Please! - Props are a gimmick they use to compensate for their lack of skills as a DJ. It's tacky and really awkward for the guests. A good DJ won't need guests to make fools of themselves to loosen them up. Quite the opposite, a good DJ will boost your guests' confidence and get them to naturally dance without any chiding.

4) Are the songs edited? - Nothing is more awkward than your favorite radio songs dropping F-bombs and other profanity while your grandparents are dancing with the grand kids.
